The Second Coming of Maximo Park

We've always been of the opinion that Maximo Park got the short end of the mid-2000s-Brit-pop-revival-stick, kind of like the Pulp to Kasabian's Oasis or the Kasier Chief's Blur. They are far superior musicians, and yet somehow it all went over people's heads. Sure, they were a bit heady, and although we thoroughly enjoy 2005's A Certain Trigger to this day, something just didn't click with the greater public. We mean, we're sure the album did well, but it seems to us that the 'Park should have gotten way more succesful than they did.

It looks like all that is about to change though.

Holy. Shit. Maximo Park's new single, "Our Veloicty", is greater than anything on the pervious record, and if even half of their upcoming album Our Earthly Pleasures is this impressive, we're in for a real treat. We've watched this video as many times as possible since we got a hold of it last week, and we still get a kick out of the death stare Paul gives the camera at the end. Hold up:

LOL! Seriously though, we get chills every time that damn keyboard-driven chorus kicks in near the two-minute mark. So amazing.

Here's an MP3 for your troubles.

Maximo Park - Our Velocity

We also interviewed Paul way back in 2005 (Jesus) when Maximo played Tonic. Here's a link.

Our Earthly Pleasures drops in April on the never-ceases-to-amaze-us Warp Records. Be sure to cop that shit!
