Something in the deli aisle...

I've been listening to a healthy dose of The Blow's Paper Television. I can't help but have a soft spot for waves of electro pop and sweet lyrics with dueling girl vocals. You'll be hearing more about this Portland band as people catch on to their pure awesomeness. Their latest video for one of my favorite cuts from the album, 'Parentheses' is pretty magical. If you're a fan of karaoke and animation then you will love the video below.

Music is a Better Noise

Today I ventured out to Long Island City to check out the latest exhibitions at P.S. 1. P.S. 1 is a great space; it was an old public school hence the name and converted into an art space in the 70's. I love PS. 1 because of its support of contemporary art and emerging artists.

Some of the highlights from my visit this week:

1. MUSIC IS A BETTER NOISE: is best described as an exhibit that brings together "musicians who make art and artists who make music..."
Read the press release here. The highlights from this exhibit for me were the works by Devendra Banhart, Christian Marclay and Bjorn Copeland.

2. KATRÍN SIGURDARDÓTTIR: HIGH PLANE V: is a piece created for PS.1 and it's pretty amazing. When you enter the room, there are two ladders on opposite sides of the room and when you reach the top of the ladder there is an opening in the ceiling where you discover the topographical architecture.
Read the press release here.

3. And if you haven't had a chance to check out James Turrell's Meeting - you definitely should. It's a long term installation and is open weather permitting. I've sat in this room many a times.

Also, be sure to check out Artbook in the back of the cafe for the D.A.P. catalog.

Gettin' Enough

It seems like all we ever do on this blog is rip off PopJustice. But what can we say, they just beat us to the punch each time. One our latest obsessions is one Lil' Chris-- he was on Rock School in the U.K. or something, and some genius management company has decided to make him a one-man McFly. And the results are fucking awesome. His new song and video, "Gettin' Enough" is amazingly catchy, and it rips of "Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've?)" by The Buzzcocks, and while we're kind of against biting off pop songs, "Ever Fallen in Love" is categorically the BEST POP SONG EVER, thus making "Gettin' Enough" at least 45% of the best pop song ever, which in turn is still better than Babyshambles and Dirty Pretty Things combined. Yes, readers, PRIZE.

Kanye is a disgraceful LOSER

If you weren’t convinced that Kanye West was a bit insane, perhaps you will change your mind after watching this clip. At the MTV European Music Awards, Kanye stormed the stage after he lost the Best Video award to the sweetness that is JUSTICE vs. Simian who won the honors.

Watch the clip here

Cheers to the JUSTICE vs. Simian win for “We Are Your Friends!”
Watch the winning video below:

And if you’re in NYC this weekend, be sure to check out the 2 Year Anniversary of FIXED w/resident DJ’s JDH and Dave P. at Studio B in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on 11/04/06. We guarantee there will be pure craziness tomorrow night and should not be missed with Digitalism, JUSTICE, and all those rump shaking kids.
