We have no idea what is going on in the new California Roisin video

...as usual.



We could ostensibly go on and on about the conception and significance of Roisin's plastic rhinestone-encrusted Alexander McQueen mac or whatever, but let's be real: all of her videos are about two things--wigs and AWESOME. We are, indeed, overpowered.

OH GOOD LORD

SOMEONE HAS POSTED THE CALVIN HARRIS-PRODUCED ROISIN MURPHY TRACK THAT GOT CUT FROM OVERPOWERED ON YOUTUBE.

It's called "Off & On" and it sounds like a CALVIN HARRIS-PRODUCED ROISIN MURPHY TRACK THAT GOT CUT FROM OVERPOWERED. Fucking amazing.

The embedding feature has been "disabled by request" but surely this person knows of all the online video converters that exist to rip audio from YouTube. So if an MP3 surfaces in the NEAR FUTURE, DO NOT BLAME US IF IT GETS POSTED.

Anyway.

The video comes with this description, which breaks our OMGometer through the roof:

Roisin recorded both this track with Calvin Harris and Cathy Dennis last year.

It was recorded during sessions for the "Overpowered" album but was not used as Roisin did not like the production style.

She also recorded another track with them entitled "Don't Let It Go To Your Head Boy" (during the same sessions), it was also rejected for the same reasons.

The vocal has since been re-recorded by Sophie Ellis-Bextor for potential inclusion on her forthcoming "Greatest Hits" Album.

However, Sophie has since began working in the studio on other material with The Freemasons and their creative partnership has proven to have been more fruitful and creatively inspiring than either party originally imagined, so casting the inclusion of this track on Sophie's "Greatest Hits", in doubt.

So there's finally a new Roisin Murphy video on the Internet

It's for "Let Me Know" and like everything else in Roisin's album campaign, it has to do with "the ORDINARY and the EXTRAORDINARY": designer costumes in sandwich shops, leather stilettos in public parks, plastic ponchos in post offices etc etc.

Anyway, it's pretty obvious that after this video, the opening of a "disco diner" in the heart of London seems imminent, no?

This isn't the new Roisin video, but frankly it might as well be

We're totally not over how FUCKING AMAZING "Modern Timing" is, every time we listen to it, it creeps further and further up our Best Songs Ever 2007™ list. Shit is unreal.

Anyway we've been trolling around Youtube for the video to the new California Roisin single, "Let Me Know", and came across this little thingy instead.



It's Roisin on the photoshoot for the SLEEVE of the new single. Frankly if we've ever heard of a better comcept for a video then we can't remember it. Imagine it: the MUSIC VIDEO is FOOTAGE from BEHIND THE SCENES of the PHOTOSHOOT for the AMAZING SINGLE ARTWORK. When you BUY THE SINGLE it would be like the CONCLUSION to the video you've been watching for the past two months. WHY DOESN'T SOMEONE PAY US TO COME UP WITH THIS SHIT?!?!?!?

There's a new Roisin track bumming around the Internet

It's called "Modern Timing", and in an unforseen feat of awesomeness, it is even MORE FANTASTIC THAN "OVERPOWERED" which, and we probably don't need to remind you, is pretty amazing itself.

If this track is anything to go by, Overpowered has already made its way into the Best Albums Ever 2007™ pantheon. Indeed, an accomplishment worth noting.

Slow news day, then.

California was on Popworld the other day (we thought that got cancelled?) playing Tiddlywinks so some girl can win a prize. WHATEVER, she's the fucking best. She looks awesome, as always. And she wins. Booyah other girl!

It is BRILLIANT for various reasons, including:
1. It bears something of a passing resemblance to Spike Jones' video for "Da Funk" by Daft Punk, although if Roisin had been wearing a prosthetic dog head in this video things would have gotten a little too "Goldfrapp" for our liking.
2. She brushes her teeth on the toilet.

There are literally millions of other reasons to watch this video but we had to start somewhere. Overpowered is out July 2nd in the UK, so hopefully someone will release it America, not like that whole Ruby Blue fiasco from a few years back.

Roisin Murphy is Back! Back!! BACK!!!

We've been ginormous fans of Roisin Murphy and her now-defunct band Moloko for some time now, and not just because her name is one letter short of being Raisin (LOL!). It's not secret that DN is all about powerful pop ladies and the songs they sing, and Roisin is no exception from our regular Ellis-Bextors, Stevens', Goldfrapps and other Dragonettes. Her new single (entitled, brilliantly, "Overpowered") has been making "waves" around the greater Internet area for the last couple of months, and we must say, it is quite an infectious slice of laid-back femme-pop. It's interesting to see Roisin move away from the more pure disco vibe of Moloko on her solo efforts and embrace a more complex sound--blah blah whatever, it's fantastic and deserves your utter attention. It's streaming right now on her MySpace profile--apparently some site where you can listen to an artist's songs and look at some pictures of them. Ah technology, etc.
