Now seems a good a time as any to say that we've never really given a shit about Danity Kane

...but "Damaged", despite clearly being avoided by DN staffers for several months, has definitely grown on us. Be it the 20 Fingers-style vocal edits (and you can never really go wrong with 20 Fingers-style vocals edits), the drum pattern lifted pretty much without reserve from "Maneater" or the fact that the song is firmly setting back feminism by decades with the most RI-DI-CU-LOUS lyrics of the year ("Oh hello, Mr. Handsome and Strong Gentleman. Being a LADY, you see, I am incapable of joy or satisfaction without having one of you big, strapping gents around to poke my hoo-ha with your muscle-stick. Mind having a go while I writhe around in a dress inspired by my male stylists bedsheets etc etc") but we just danced around our bedrooms to it, three times. Of course, like all American girl group songs, the track catches the fast train to Snoozeville after about 2:30 minutes, the "My H-E-A-R-T is D-A-M-A-G-E-D" bringing the last lyrical LOL before some lame ass rapper lays down some boring spoken word bits (because you know, there has to be a dude on it for people to take it seriously) but the fact of the matter is "Damaged" catchy as hell, and did we mention the vocal edits? Amazing.

So yeah, we like "Damaged" by Danity Kane.

Here is "Damaged" by Danity Kane.

We were going to Photoshop the members of Hot Chip's heads onto some Rolex watches for this post

...but quickly realized we couldn't be bothered. Instead, here is a fairly recent press shot featuring the majesty of Joe Goddard's ginger beard:

Sigh.

The faithful readers of this blog (all five of you) should know by now that we don't like Hot Chip: we fucking adore them. It's of our humble popinion (that was a typo but we are SO keeping it) that they are currently the Best Pop Band in the World, and we could go on and on and on about how happy it makes us that five not-so-easy-on-the-eyes laptop geeks from England that literally sound like '60s stop-motion cartoon Davey and Goliath can make dance music that tops the charts--it literally makes us believe, for the length of an album, that we're not all going to slowly die in a horrible post-apocalyptic wasteland due to global warming. There are people who don't like Hot Chip's new record Made In The Dark, and to those people we say: fuck you in the asshole.

Yesterday we came across Hot Chip doing a cover of Wiley's current amazing "crossover" (read: it was made by a black man but white people like it) hit "My Rolex" the band recorded for Jo Whiley's BBC Live Lounge program, and it is obviously the most brilliant thing we're ever heard in our entire lives, the best bit being at 2:37 when Joe starts going "Jo Whiley's a party girl and she knows it" which is exactly the so-uncool-it's-amazing attitude towards pop music and culture that make Hot Chip the best. We know the song has been out for ages (i.e. like a week, literally eons in Internet Time) but here/now it is if you missed it:

This is Cuizinier

...preparing to perform cunnilingus on a microphone.

Get into it, dude.

Anyway, we really try to hate Cuizinier because he obviously fucked over our girl Yelle, who is becoming way more successful and awesome then him (even though we simply CANNOT hate on Teki Latex and 3615 TTC, whatever), but this new song we just came across is like, holy FUCKING SHIT. The secret ingredient is obviously DJ Orgasmic, who produced the motherfucking shit out of this record. It's so approved we can't even deal. We need a new level of approval.

Cuizinier - Quand Tu M'aimes

We can't. PS who do we contact to get the next Kylie record produced by Orgasnic...?

We've showered our blog with Sally Shapiro and Scandanavian love before and we're about to some more with two downloads!

The new Remix Romance Vol. 1 features the track "Time to Let Go" by Sally remixed by Oslo's Lindstrom. If you're a fan of Lindstrom and the whole down-tempo/tropical stylings then you'll dig this track.

AND we've also got the mp3 for Sally's "Jackie Junior" remixed by the lovely Junior Boys out on Paper Bag Records.

Cherry Tulips and Headlights

We wrote about Headlights this past August, when we came across their video for the track 'TV' and we thought it was super fun! The trio from Champaign, IL will release their sophomore album, Some Racing, Some Stopping on Polyvinyl on February 19th! 'Cherry Tulips' is the first single and we've got it here for you on DISCONAP! Weeeeeee......

We dig the '60's inspired POP track.

Bandwagon-jumping with the Disconappers, part 1,374

If you've been an avid reader of Disconap for more than a couple of weeks, you'll have noticed that we take the refined art of hearing about a band, ignoring them, finally getting around to listening to them and jumping on their already bursting-at-the-seams bandwagon to uncharted levels. We were categorically the last people to confess to liking the Scissor Sisters, and proud. Well, we've done it again: we fucking love the Ting Tings roughly 25 years after the rest of the entire planet. They were even like #3 in the NME's top singles of 2007. Yeah. That bad.

Anyway, they have a song (wow, really?) called "That's Not My Name", and it's fun, catchy, totally dancey and we love it. Frankly, we get too hung up on band names, but can you really blame us, readers? The fucking TING TINGS? It's like "Shiny Toy Guns" all over again.

Anyway, "That's Not My Name" is here and now.

Lovely.

THE PAINS OF BEING PURE AT HEART X 1000000

That's right, double post. If you don't like it, you know where the "close window" button is.

As reported in the post directly below this one, the Pains are performing a pop show at Don Hill's in NYC tomorrow. We're pretty sure that the show will feature "A Teenager in Love", their new single that SOUNDS LIKE JOE JACKSON, we are not kidding. It's amazing. AND IT IS HERE.

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - A Teenager in Love (alt link)

So we're definitely going to be "steppin' out" to see this band tomorrow etc etc (You're fired--Stupid Puns Ed.)

Alright, so this is Hot Chip

And we are totally fucking obsessed with their new single. Yes, every blogger on Earth has been going on and on about "Ready for the Floor" ("IT'S AMAZING!" "IT SUCKS!" "IT WAS WRITTEN FOR KYLIE!" "IT'S ABOUT BATMAN!" etc etc) but the truth of the matter is blatant, and goes something like this:

1. "Ready for the Floor" is better than "Call the Shots"
2. "Ready for the Floor" is better than "My Dunks"
3. "Ready for the Floor" is better than "2 Hearts"
4. "Ready for the Floor" is better than "Bleeding Love"
5. "Ready for the Floor" is better than "Clean up Your Eyes" (but not by much)
6. "Ready for the Floor" is better than "Gimme More"
7. "Ready for the Floor" is better than "Bizzle Bizzle"
8. "Ready for the Floor" is better than "Sweaty"
9. "Ready for the Floor" is better than "About You Now"
10. "Ready for the Floor" is better than "Song 4 Mutya"

HOWEVER

1. "Ready for the Floor" is not better than "Catch You".

Here is the extended version of "Ready for the Floor", entitled "Ready for the Floor (Extended Version)".

Hot Chip - "Ready for the Floor (Extended Version)"

Thank God for Hot Chip.

We Like...

photo: katelyn roof

We really like the Dreamboat Guild, I mean the Depreciation Guild. (oops...Freudian slip)
We do like looking at them but more importantly we like listening to them. We dig their brand of shoegaze-y, electro-rock with a Nintendo twist. It's the recipe for awesome pop music.
Judge for yourself. Download their album, In Her Gentle Jaws for free today at their website by clicking the image below:

(FYI: The album was mixed byJosh Eustis, of Telefon Tel Aviv!!!)

Want to see them live? If you live in the NYC area, come to Club 205 tonight and check them out. Their set time is 9:45PM. Come a little early and jam out to dj sets between bands by Doorknobz himself (member of a band we <3....The Pains of Being Pure at Heart)

CEC and KKH will be there. See you then.

We weren't going to post about this

...since everyone else seems to have already done so, but someone (or some... thing) anonymously emailed it to us this morning, so what the hell.

This is a single from Fast Ood Rockers called "Song 4 Kylie... I'm In Love (With a Girl in a Time Machine)".

We're just glad to see we're not the only people who feel someone should pay for the "Strict Machine"/"2 Hearts" "debacle". We would post said song, but then would it go to #1? We guess most of our readers are in the U.S., where it won't be available for purchase, so we'll post it anyway. It's actually kind of good, though we've never watched Dr. Who and we've never listened to "Smile Like You Mean It" by the Killers, so perhaps some of the finer ironic points are lost on us.

:(

Fast Ood Rockers - "Song 4 Kylie... I'm In Love (With a Girl in a Time Machine)"

We suppose some of the novelty will inevitably be soured when it turns out to be those two guys from "LDN Is a Victim".

We think we might go out and buy the Girls Aloud album today

...that is, if we can find it on import.

And it's the limited edition cover.

That's this one.

We probably shouldn't do this but here is a track from the record. It's fucking brilliant, like mind-crushingly, Earth-shatteringly, cosmos-affirmingly brilliant, and it's called "Can't Speak French". We got it off some random blog and it's been the soundtrack of our week.

Girls Aloud - "Can't Speak French"

So it's been kind of a slow news day we guess.

This is a Clik Clik track that is not "My Dunks"

...which, we are not contractually obligated to say, will be for sale Dec. 3rd in the UK, in all fine record "shops" and on iTunes. You can also pre-order the single on Friends vs. Records, which is clearly the best-named retail music Web site of all time.

Oh, and here is a photo of the Clik Clik looking "festive".

Basically we now realize that posting the debut single of a new band for free on a shitty Web site (albeit one that nobody reads) is WRONG and NOT GOOD for career of said band. But we were lucky because the band's manager is a nice guy and sent us this track instead (when he "jolly well" could have told us to fuck off and called the police). KARMA, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN.

The Clik Clik - "Paris Hilton"

We were too scared to think about this song for very long, as it seems to be a love song about Paris Hilton, but hopefully it is ironic. This post would have been miles funnier if the track had been called "Karma" but what can you do.

YEAH!

Finally someone makes "2 Hearts" not Goldfrapp

We love Kylie Minogue--really we do. We know we have been serving the hardcore hate when it comes to "2 Hearts", but really it's just like when your kid gets a B on their 5th grade geography test instead of an A. It's like, come on. It's not rocket science.

BUT Alan Braxe (who we, need we even say it, FUCKING LOVE) has just remixed "2 Hearts" and made it fucking amazing. We liked the Pimps and Whores remix, but we mean, no one can touch Alan.

Kylie Minogue - "2 Hearts (Alan Braxe remix)

Somehow we thought this post would be funnier... maybe it's because it's 4:47AM and we're tired as fuck after spending more money than we should have on alcohol and loud music.

WHAT WERE YOU LISTENING TO THIS TIME LAST YEAR?

Time flies when you're having fun. We decided to think about what we were listening to this time last year. Can you remember what you were jamming out to?

Here are some KKH picks and coincidentally they both have "house" in their band names:

LITTLE BIT IN LOVE WITH YOU...

As you might be able to tell, we have a lot of love for all things Scandanavian. The Acid House Kings, Kimono Kops, IKEA, swedish meatballs, Sally Shapiro and now Lykke Li.

Her debut 3-track EP was just released featuring the enchanting single, "Little Bit." We have literally been listening to it on repeat for the past couple of weeks. This song is infectiously sweet and the girl speaks to our hearts - with lines like "And for you I keep my legs apart and forget about my tainted heart..." Can you really resist this song?

Lykke Li is currently in New York finishing up recording. She has some shows slated for this month and next in Europe playing with the likes of the Shout Out Louds, Caribou, The Dirty Projectors and The Magic Numbers. Lykke also contributes her lovely vocals to the latest Shout Out Louds album, Our Ill Wills - which is DN approved.

Here is her first video for "Little Bit" directed by Mattias Montero:

This is The Clik Clik

...and frankly it's become such second nature for us to like bands like this that we're seriously beginning to wonder if it really is all just about marketing and trend analysis and not proper music.

The Clik Clik - "My Dunks" - DELETED BY REQUEST

Probably not though.

Basically what we are trying to CONVEY is that we are experiencing GRAVE EXISTENTIAL CRISIS and that we need MORE than yet another NEW RAVE act with a CATCHY SINGLE to make us LOVE LIFE. That said "My Dunks" is worth a listen.

We'd put a sad face here but frankly we can't muster th energy. WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN ETC

Disconap.blogspot.com DOES NOT CONDONE UNDERAGE DRINKING

...but we do condone a little bit of Bombay Bicycle Club.

Bombay Bicycle Club - "The Hill"

When I played this for KKH earlier this week, she basically drooled all over her keyboard and proclaimed "The Hill" to be the perfect marriage of Devendra Bandhart-style warbly vocal skills and male-fronted British indie--AND SHE IS TOTALLY RIGHT. It's kind of (actually, is totally) derivative but since when is that a bad thing, as long as the song is bumpin'. We can't believe we just said "bumpin'".

Anyway these Bombay Bicycle Club kids are part of the whole Way Out West crew that birthed Disconap faves Cajun Dance Party and Lo-Fi Culture Scene. So that explains that.

Please direct your general field of vision to the below image of Sisely Treasure

Nothing that Cyndi Lauper + every female Japanese artist since 1975 hasn't done before, but still amazing.

Apparently (from what the Internet taught us) Sisely Treasure was a contestant on that reality show about the Pussycat Dolls (the one that not even WE could stomach) but we're sure that she was the cool "punk" girl with good taste, so that makes it bearable. Anyway you should care about Sisely because she has just released (i.e. "someone sent to our inbox") a single called "Hold My Hand" which was produced by none other than Disconap Hall of Awesome member Frankmusik. WE KNOW. Can you imagine the amazingness that the union of Frankmusik and the girl in that photo could provide? WELL IMAGINE NO MORE BECAUSE HERE IT IS.

Sisely Treasure - "Hold My Hand"

So good... if only every club jam sounded like this. Not enough women use vocoders, in our opinion. Don't thank us.

PS: I know we've been lame about updating but all that's about to change. Actually who are we kidding we'll always be the same shitty blog that no one reads. HOLLER.
