Soon-to-be-legendary party launches on the lower east side

MESSAGE TO ALL READERS:

The DNs (myself and KKH) are lauching a brand new pop party on the Lower East Side of the Borough of Manhattan. It's called BOYCORE, it's inspired by and in affiliation with GIRLCORE and will be amazing. Expect to hear tunes from Her Royal Bextorness, California Roisin, Tahita And The Other Girls And Boys Of The New Young Pony Club, perhaps something from the 1990's, etc, etc. Chaz from Chazology will be DJing along with Your Disconappers, so you know the jams will be brought. With a vengeance.

Oh there is also a "flyer", unlikely to fly much as it is on your computer and does not possess a physical manifestation.

Be there, obviously.

Come celebrate this country's independence with fried chicken and drunk people playing pop music

That's right! Up-and-coming NYC dance-pop party We Are Your Friends has teamed up with your Disconappers to bring you one Fourth of July your dancin' feet will never forget (or something to that effect). We're opning the festivities from 12 to 1:30PM on the roof of Bar 13, fried chicken will be served, drink specials will be drunk, and we can assure you, Sophie Ellis-Bextor will be played.

Headlining Djs are Lauren Flax, Huggs, and our very own special robot, Robot Blair. It will be a magical night (i.e. afternoon) to remember. Be there!

Oh God, Disconap is one.

Dear Lord in the Heavens Above, we started this blog a year ago today. ONE FULL YEAR. And it managed to look WORSE!

We were going to make a really long post about loads of shit no one cares about, so instead here are some of our favorite moments from the past 12 months, in easy-to-use index form.

May 2006: It begins. Basically.
June 2006: We discover Cajun Dance Party, and the worlds seems OK for about 9 seconds.
July 2006: KKH discovers powerpoint graphs, and the despair one can experience when an epsiode of Project Runway doesn't quite go your way.
August 2006: Brendan Urie from P!ATD gets owned by a bottle at the Reading Festival. We're sure his guyliner bled more than his head :(
September 2006: WAYF debuts at Fontana's. We'll never be alone again.
October 2006: Pull Tiger Tail bring ghost-riding to the indie scene.
November 2006: Kanye hates on Simian and Justice, thus confirming age-old rumors that he is a douche.
December 2006: Two of our favorite bands come together in holy musical matrimony--or at least were SUPPOSED TO. WTF is up, dudes?
January 2007: The best song of 2007 is prematurely unveiled. And we wet ourselves.
February 2007: Robyn is back! Back!! BACK!!!
March 2007: Reykjavik! make punk OK to listen to again. And also look like vikings.
April 2007: We develop a HUGE crush on French electro-punks Sexual Earthquake in Kobe.
May 2007: We see current girl crush Kaela of The Blow at Irving Plaza, and all is right in the world.

Yeah, there's been quite a few awesome posts over the past year, but one significant moment, one we didn't even report initially, has shaped us more than any other since we've been doing DN. It was magnificent, regal, moving.

And here it is.

We thank you.

Bloggers With Zero Hand-Eye Coordination DJ Crashin' In With Their Favorite Teenage Band

Yes, you've read correctly. After a trial run a few weeks ago at The Annex, where the bartender totally went ape-shit and cut off our grande finale of "Destroy Everything You Touch", CEC and KKH are dipping their collective pinkie toe in the DJ kiddie pool once again--but this time at the fabled Crashin' In night. Not only is that amazing, but we'll be DJing with our mentors DJ Oil, Paulie and Gerald, AND two of our favorite bands of the moment, Holy Hail and the motherfucking Spinto Band will be performing! I know, you can barely raise your jaw from your desk to form the letters "OMG". So come all, be merry, and we might just take your request*!

*We won't.
