Visually, it's like the Knife meets Klaxons meets "Karma Police" and sonically it's like Satan meets the Boogeyman--amazing.

We know it's sometimes hard to gauge our musical taste when all we talk about is really manufactured pop music and our unironic love for the Spice Girls, but just for the record, Liars are one of the most consistent bands in America right now, and we love them.

"Women of the World" is YACHT's take of an Ivor Cutler poem set to music with a raging, trippy video.

This is the video for the Australian songtress' new single "Buttons", a video which basically just features her putting weird stuff on her head and singing about ghosts. Indeed, the unfiltered ravings of a psychotic madwoman.



We never really liked Sia because we only knew her from her work with Zero 7, who are basically the worst thing to ever happen to mankind, but this song is awesome. Even if it looks a little painful.

POST-SIREN JAM SESSION

The DNs (myself and KKH) are lauching a brand new pop party on the Lower East Side of the Borough of Manhattan. It's called BOYCORE, it's inspired by and in affiliation with GIRLCORE and will be amazing. Expect to hear tunes from Her Royal Bextorness, California Roisin, Tahita And The Other Girls And Boys Of The New Young Pony Club, perhaps something from the 1990's, etc, etc. Chaz from Chazology will be DJing along with Your Disconappers, so you know the jams will be brought. With a vengeance.

Oh there is also a "flyer", unlikely to fly much as it is on your computer and does not possess a physical manifestation.

A post featuring Sophie Ellis-Bextor, burglary and cats

HRH Lady Ellis-Bextor has a new single coming out, it's called "Today The Sun Is On Us" (don't forget the SPF +40!) and it's not quite as good as "Catch You" or "Me and My Imagination", but it's the Third Single so I suppose she had to go for a Slow One. All this is pretty irrelevant when the video is taken in account, which is below for your viewing pleasure.



Oh yes. That's right. Best pop video fo the year. It's as if God himself witnessed the whole "Song 4 Mutya" "dilemma" and restored the pop video balance in the universe. Numerical number-points:

1. This video cements our theory that anyone can look highly stylish and awesome with a wavy 1930's hairstyle.

2. We also hate it when people tell you to "get off the computer" because they "have things to do" when "things" merely references them checking their gmail and playing the new version of Warbears :(

3. SOPHIE SINGING IN A SHOWER. Along with Roisin singing on the toilet in her new video, there is clearly a trend emerging of Powerful Pop Ladies performing in bathrooms and bathroom-like areas. Next: Tahita from New Young Pony Club brushing her teeth? It's not impossible.

4. Showers are often wet, and a wet Ellis-Bextor resembles a cat even more than a dry Ellis-Bextor. Figure a:



Uncanny.

5. Spoiler alert: at the end of the video SHE IS A CAT BURGLAR. Seriously, M. Night Shyamalan needs to get on this shit because WHAT A TWIST.

Yes, it's "Song 4 Mutya" once again, only this time an "alternative" take featuring Mutya's disembodied head on top of some sketchy futuristic graphics instead of crusy festival goers. It's better but not by much. Beggars can't be choosers, we suppose.

CEC and I are going to learn how to synchronize dance or something...that's what Leslie Feist does to us. With her previous work, she's come off as a super serious singer-songwriter but with her latest album, The Reminder (Interscope) - we dig these playful videos! So we promised we would stop with the youtubes for the day but we've been sitting in offices all day with the thermostat set at 75 when it's a scorchin' 90 something degrees outside. WTF?! The boss man wants us to be distracted at our desks posting youtubes...can you blame us?

1) Oh hey, what up Autotune? We're not sure if this actually qualifies as singing, but neither does Bob Dylan and we don't hear any of you complaining THERE.
2) Some of the "décor" subtly uses graphics from a Rage Against The Machine album cover--how "LA"!

3)"Now all I want is all my stuff back/Did you hear that/Let me repeat that/I want my stuff back" may be the greatest lyric of 2007. Take THAT "Sufjan"!

We reecently caught Blood Red Shoes' first US shows, and they were quite fun, even when (as PunkPhoto reported) drummer Steven totally horked all over his kit at Galapagos.

California was on Popworld the other day (we thought that got cancelled?) playing Tiddlywinks so some girl can win a prize. WHATEVER, she's the fucking best. She looks awesome, as always. And she wins. Booyah other girl!

The Cribs continue their grand tradition of not releasing the best song on the album as a single

It's good--though we suspect that one girl is Cory Kennedy which makes us a little nauseous (what next, God? What will you slowly kill our souls with next?). We adore the Cribs possibly more than any rock band currently walking the Earth, but frankly they need to just destroy everything and release "Our Bovine Public". People will be picking pieces of their brains out of their asses for the rest of time. It may, just possibly, be their Best Song Ever™.

CSS, one of our other favorite bands, has renixed the Cribs' last single, "Men's Needs". NOrmally we'd be kind of against someone doing a dance remix of the greatest punk band alive, BUT it's CSS so we let this one slide by. It's actually very good.

A solid case of amazing song disppointing video

WTF.



The video for Groove Armanda's "Song 4 Mutya" (is it called "Out of Control" anymore?) and it's kind of not that good.

We suppose that the sheer brilliance of this song lead us to believe that the video would be of equal amazingness--they could have at least thrown in some men in bunny suits fucking, couldn't they.

Up-and-coming NYC dance-pop party We Are Your Friends has teamed up with your Disconappers to bring you one Fourth of July your dancin' feet will never forget (or something to that effect). We're opning the festivities from 12 to 1:30PM on the roof of Bar 13, fried chicken will be served, drink specials will be drunk, and we can assure you, Sophie Ellis-Bextor will be played.
